No greater gift could we hope to give than helping someone else to live...
How to cope with the terminal diagnosis of a loved one
Caring for a loved one with cancer can be an overwhelming experience; especially when given no hope of a cure. There are so many unanswered questions; when will it happen, how will it happen, will there be much pain?
How will I cope, who can I talk to, who will be there to help me? Does anyone understand how I am feeling?
At last there is a book available that relates to everything you are feeling
'Lean on Me' - Cancer through a Carer's Eyes; a book written by Lorraine Kember is a true account of her emotional journey as she cares for her dying husband and improves the 'quality' of his life. Uniquely combining both the physical and emotional impact of caring for a loved one with cancer, this inspirational book is a 'must read' for anyone whose life has been touched by cancer of any kind. Lorraine is pictured with her husband Brian.
'Lean on Me' is not just a book about cancer. It is a beautiful love story and a valuable guide to Carer's wrapped into one.

Readers Letter
Dear Lorraine. It is hard watching your partner in life slowly deteriorating before your eyes! I still read your book as I feel it’s the only link I have with someone else who understands what I am going though. I haven’s seen anything like your book anywhere, to people like me it is a shining beacon in a vast ocean. I don’t know how many people have requested your book Lorraine all told, but I know I am just one of those numbers who will always be grateful for your deciding to write it all down, pouring out your heart and your feelings which must have been hard, but gratifying, probably not knowing how that courage and determination would eventually be a lifeline to many others like me. You are still my place in the dark I can go to, knowing you will understand every feeling or thought I might have. Thank you Lorraine, Love Cheryl
About the Author.
Lorraine Kember
was successfully running her own retail business in the far north of Western Australia when Brian; her husband of over 30 years, was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma (asbestos related cancer) and given a prognosis of three to nine months. Not wanting to spend one precious moment away from his side, Lorraine immediately put her business up for sale and became his primary carer.
Far removed from family members and friends and with no cancer councils or palliative care organizations to support her, Lorraine worried about the pain Brian experienced and was determined to ease his suffering.
With no previous medical knowledge and only the internet to guide her, she put into place a pain and symptom management routine that was to dramatically improve the quality of Brian’s life. Testament to this; despite his prognosis of three to nine months, Brian survived for two years, remained active and alert and was not bed bound until three short days prior to his death.
